Today is the most important day

Today is the most important day in our lives; we become great daily by what we do daily. Today is a present, a gift of life that we must appreciate by maximizing its use.

What is it about today we must know?

  • Today's decision creates tomorrow's provisions. Esau decided to sell his birthright today and had nothing to reap in his tomorrow.
  • Today is the future we spoke about yesterday so we must utilize it wisely. Esau failed to take hold of his future today and this made him truncate his dreams because of a plate of food.
  • What we do today is capable of making us better or battered. Esau's decision to gratify his stomach caused him pain for the rest of his life.
  • Today is not a promise made, it is a promise kept. Esau thought he was making a promise to give away his birthright but little did he know that the deal was sealed when he stretched out his hands to receive his plate of damnation in exchange for his rights as a firstborn.
  • Today will not count if you do not count it by the minute. Every minute Esau spent negotiating for a plate of food made him loose the blessing of today and the hope for the future.
  • Today's seed sown produces the harvest of the future. Esau sowed a seed of scorn and disregard. He had penchant for bad decision and this eventually caused him a loss of the blessings and inheritances of his father.
  • Today is in the power of your hands and not of your enemies or friends. Esau gave power to his brother when he decided to exchange his birthright for food.
  • Today will fade away when you choose to fritter it away in leisure. Esau chose to be in the open field where he caught nothing and wasted his resources in leisurely pursuit.

Esau failed to cook his meal, rather he went in pursuit of vanity in the open field. He woke up early and sat up late to eat the bread of sorrow.

Esau typifies people who daily chase the wind to reap the whirlwind. Esau refused to change, he continued in a vocation that brought him pain. As we saw later on, he lost the blessings of Isaac his father because he went chasing for game in the field where he was never successful.

Esau was like a mad man, he kept doing the same thing expecting a different result, no wonder he ended up a loser.
